A letter of intent to establish a partnership was signed by representatives of Shanxi province and Uzbekistan's Sirdaryo Region at the third Uzbekistan-China Forum on Local Cooperation, which was held in Xi'an from May 21 to 22.

The agreement aims to deepen regional collaboration in areas such as trade, agriculture, education, culture, and tourism.
Sirdaryo Region covers an area of 4,300 square kilometers and is home to 815,700 people, with Guliston as its capital. Known for its strategic location, the region boasts a strong agricultural sector and a solid industrial foundation. It is also home to the Pengsheng Industrial Park, the first China-Uzbekistan joint venture industrial park.
