Qinglian Temple in Zezhou County

Qinglian Temple around Jue Mountain is located on the hillside of Xiashi Mountain, in the north of Sinazhuang Village. It has two yards: the upper one and the lower one. The upper one is Qinglian Temple. on its central axis, there are Heavenly-Kings Hall, Sutra-Collection Pavilion, Sakya Hall, Mahavira Hall, Arhat Tower with two side chambers, Hall of Ksitigarbha, Sutra Hall, Monk’s Room, Sutra Library. There is a cliff in the east of the yard. The top of the cliff is flat like a stage. It’s said that it was the place when Huiyuan-a senior monk in Jin Dynasty, noted the Sutra of Nirvana and threw the writing brush. In the Kuanyue Pavilion in the south of this stage, there are poems of men of letters of different dynasties written when they were enjoying the moon. On the night of Mid-autumn day, climbing the mountain, people can enjoy a bright full moon rising gradually behind the two peaks of Jue Mountain. There are three main halls and side halls in the lower yard. There are also stupa built in Ming Dynasty with brick and Stone Tower of Mater Huifeng built in Tang Dynasty. The following works in the main hall are remains of Tang Dynasty: the remaining patterns on the binding waist part of the square altar, six painted sculptures: Manjusri and Samantabhadra, disciples of Ananda and Kasyapa and Bodhisattvas. Five statues among the 12 painted sculptures before the altar in the south hall were carved in Song Dynasty. The Remains of Huiyuan-a master in Xiashi Temple of Sui Dynasty, inscriptions of Tang Dynasty and line carving Buddha Hall Chart on the top of the stele (also called Miroku’s sermon Chart). They are all treasures.
